Great conversation today. The question was "how might we incorporate writing as a tool to ensure student motivation and publication in a long term project?".
The 4th grade students are doing a project called What Floats Your Boat? Eventually they will build a boat that can hold a 4th grader. Great project and I received so many ideas and bits of inspiration.

Today was a great day for learning and networking. The day began with the keynote by Will Richardson. He provided some excellent quotes and links to alternative learning such as Khan Academy. He emphasized the need for change and the continued need for the personal attention of a teacher. After the keynote I prepared for my session. I was honored to be a presenter at the Kamehameha School’s technology conference. My topic today was on using Adobe Software to create industry standard media. I…

I have been reading and thinking about how significant creativity is in education. I stumbled upon Ewan McIntosh’s blog on March 12th, Design Thinking: not just for Design and Technology class. http://edu.blogs.com/

A UH Manoa graduate student made the following movie about the importance of school gardens and sourcing food for schools locally.
She filmed part of the movie at our school garden. Marcia Braden, the science teacher, is in charge of the school gardens and does an amazing job.
Thanks Marcia!
