Hi All! I'm Phavana, principal of Island Pacific Academy Middle School. We have tried different things, from allowing IPODs all the time, even in class (which really helped our ADD students to block out social distraction and focus on their task) ...

HI Melissa answers to your questions: With Deep freeze, we create thaw spaces on both macs and pcs (partitioned hard drives) so there is a thaw space on each school computer. This is wide open, but it is rarely abused. Kids store what they need an...

Mike, I should've added a resource for web filtering to your 1-to-1 posting. We allow our students to take their tablet computers home to give everyone an equal playing field. Now, I'd like to filter our upper school students less than we currently do...but that is another topic. Anyway, we use a great filtering system that filters students even off campus with their machines. You may already have something but if you are in the market, you should look at a McAfee Secure WebWasher. They started as a smaller company called Secure Computing and McAfee bought them out this year. Anyway, the web filtering products and their tech support are top of the line and very reasonably priced. Call me if you want more information. I am happy to share.

That early morning activity isn't part of the plan...it's what happens when I attend a really interesting meeting and my head won't turn off! I actually hope you won't see too many more messages for that timeframe. I am looking forward to continuing our conversation, though, even at the risk of another short night.

About Me
Whew! Life is a journey and I am definitely riding the wave!

My focus recently has been this grant and how I will help to bring about organizational change in my school. I will have a lot of help, though, with my wife, Suzy Travis, just becoming principal of the school!
